A judge in Iowa has allowed a man to be temporarily released from jail so he can go see the Boston Red Sox play the Kansas City Royals.

Red Sox fan Randy Aaron Barker More
Randy Aaron Barker, of Keosauqua, Iowa, was serving a 10-day jail sentence for interference with official acts and violation of a protective order. He is also a big fan of the Boston Red Sox, KCCI.com reported.

Saying baseball games are among the "few pleasures" Barker has in his life, his attorney said Barker had long-term plans to attend Wednesday's game with his father and brother.

Barker's father, Norman, told KCCI that they family had been planning the trip for 3 months and they haven't been able to attend a game in 25 years.

Barker left the jail at 1 p.m. Wednesday in a Red Sox hat and jersey.

Magistrate Judge Benny Waggoner said the request was “reasonable under the circumstances” and granted the request. Waggoner told KCCI that he has "never done anything like this before."

The Red Sox have lost the first two games of the four-game series against the Royals.
