A small fire was quickly extinguished on the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority's Green line Thursday morning.

The incident happened at about 10 a.m. at the Boylston Street Station and was confined to equipment on one car that connects the trolley to overhead wires.

MBTA officials said that there were no injuries and no service was affected.

On Wednesday night, a small electrical fire at South Station stopped service at two stops for as many as three hours.

The incident prompted the closure of South Station and the Chinatown stop on the Orange Line. The closures affected service on the Orange, Blue, Red and Silver lines. By 10:15 p.m., officials said crews were able to restore full service to the Red Line.

A large amount of smoke at South Station was reported and trains were evacuated. Several trains elsewhere were stalled on tracks after power was cut so crews could attend to the fire in the station.

The incidents Wednesday marked the second day in a row there has been a major problem for the T. On Tuesday, 18 people were hurt when a commuter train hit an emergency bumper pulling into South Station.

None of the injuries was life-threatening, and the accident was being blamed on operator error. The driver told investigators he misjudged the distance needed to stop the train.
