New Sketches Of 'Whitey' Released

BOSTON -- The FBI released new sketches Tuesday of reputed mobster James "Whitey" Bulger. The new "age-enhanced" photos depict what Bulger could look like today -- more than 10 years after he fled Boston.Agents believe Bulger may be using a disguise including a hat, glasses and mustache. The bureau is offering a $2 million reward for information directly leading to his arrest.FBI agents said Tuesday that they have seen an uptick in reported sightings from Florida. Agents are reexamining past tips and leads from various places around the world. Bulger's last confirmed sighting was in London in September 2002."I can tell you with 100 percent certainty ... that we are absolutely dedicated to finding him," said Richard Teahan, a supervisory special agent in BostonBulger, whose 80th birthday is Sept. 3, was once the reputed head of Boston's notorious Irish "Winter Hill Gang" and has been charged in connection with 19 murders.At the time Bulger was allegedly involved in organized crime activit ies, he was also an FBI informant, tipping Boston agents on the activities of the New England Mafia, which the bureau had targeted.Authorities said he fled the area with his girlfriend, Catherine Greig, after his FBI handler tipped him off that he was about to be indicted. That former agent, John Connolly Jr., is serving a 10-year prison sentence.Bulger apparently planned for a life on the run by leaving cash in safe deposit boxes around the world, officials have said.
