Though he only opened his tattoo shop a little more than a year
ago, Scott Greene already had a big reputation. So big, in fact,
that Great White lead singer Jack Russell stopped in for a
heart-shaped design when the band came to town.
Russell gave Greene and a friend free passes to Great White's
performance at The Station the night the building went up in
flames.
"At least in my eyes, I am glad to see so many people walking
around with his artwork," Greene's wife, Sandi, told The
Providence Journal. "There is no greater memorial. You can have
pictures, drawings, but if you are wearing his work, there is no
greater honor, and I have told his customers that."
Greene, 35, of Warwick, loved the band Deep Purple, the movie
Planet of the Apes, and the television show Lost in Space. He had
the robot from Lost in Space tattooed on the inside of his right
arm.
After working as a tattoo artist for nine years, Greene opened
Doors of Perception Tattoo in West Warwick. His wife co-owned and
managed the shop.
"That was his dream; he wanted to own his own parlor, and we
did it," Sandi Greene said. "You couldn't even have a piece of
scrap paper without him drawing something beautiful."
