James Gooden

James Gooden, 37, was a deli manager for Hi-Lo supermarket in Swansea, Mass.

Born in Providence, he was the husband of Lori Ann Gooden, and had lived in Cranston for many years.

Hi-Lo front manager Tina Garafalo told The Boston Globe that Gooden's sense of humor and outgoing personality helped make the store an enjoyable place to work.

In a statement, Gooden's wife said he was "a loving husband who enjoyed life to the fullest." The couple was raising two of Lori's children.

Gooden graduated from La Salle Academy in Providence, in 1983, and from Johnson & Wales University in 1995.

He had previously worked as a manager at Cafe La France and Au Bon Pain Cafe and was a former member of the 119th Military Police National Guard unit, in Cranston.

He was an avid fisherman and skier, and enjoyed cooking.
