His friends called him "Cousin Freddy." Alfred Crisostomi, of Providence, w
as the man you wanted to talk sports or music with, or better yet, go to the game or concert with
for a good time.
He was a young 38, with enough positive energy and enthusiasm to
lead a group of friends and cousins more than a decade younger.
"He electrified and lit up the room," his cousin Brian
Valcourt told The Providence Journal. "He'd always hug you and
say, 'Great to see you!' He showed everybody the utmost respect."
But his kind spirit didn't stop him from destroying his
challengers at any game -- be it tennis, darts, cards or billiards.
On Sundays, Crisostomi would command his satellite-powered
big-screen TV, with his remote control in one hand, cell phone in
the other.
He would call every local fan he knew about the glories
of his New York heroes -- the Yankees, the Jets and the Islanders.
He was a Navy veteran and the owner of F.C. Painting Co.
