An Easton teen is recovering this morning after a near-drowning.

His friend is credited with saving his life during a trip to Lake Winipesaukee in New Hampshire.

Bob O'Donnell is a captain at the Stoughton Fire Department. He was on vacation in New Hampshire with his family this week, and thanks to his training and the quick work of his son an Easton boy was alive Friday morning.

John Lee, 15, had just jumped into New Hampshire's Lake Winnepesaukee, on Thursday when he accidentally gulped a huge mouthful of water.

Lee admits he's not a strong swimmer and he was quickly in trouble.

Luckily for him, Lee's friend Bobby O'Donnell and his father Bob were nearby and came to the rescue, diving into the water to rescue him and then quickly administering CPR.

The 30-year fire veteran said he was sure they were too late but moments later, Lee was looking back up at them.

Lee was on the bottom of the lake for three minutes but, thanks to some good friends, he was expected to be released from the hospital Friday morning.
