Three Men Arrested, Charged In Connection With Carver Bust

BOSTON -- Police said a raid on a Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Carver netted a cache of cocaine, pills, marijuana and large amount of cash, and the hall was also cited for liquor license violations.Officers said they raided VFW Post No. 7421 on Green Street in Carver on Friday, July 10, and arrested two Carver residents and a Plympton man on drug-related charges. One of the men is a substitute teacher at Carver High School, they said.One of the men was identified as Michael A. Dias, 50, of Richfield Circle, charged with possession of class B cocaine with intent to distribute. Dias is the substitute teacher.Victor R. Figueroa, 48, of Center Street, in Carver, was also charged with possession of class B cocaine with intent to distribute.Ronald L. Shurtleff, 66, of Main Street, in Plympton, was charged with possession of class B cocaine with intent to distribute and possession of class D marijuana with intent to distribute.All three defendants were arraigned on Monday in the Wareham District Court.Carver police said the VFW post holds a liquor license issued as a private club by the town and it has been incrementally suspended over the past two years for assorted liquor licensing violations including serving intoxicated patrons and gambling.
