An Iraq war veteran, who had lost his legs in a bomb blast, was killed Friday afternoon in a roll-over crash on Route 93 South in Andover.

The driver of a 1996 Pontiac Sunfire coupe, Stephanie Ortiz, 21, of Lawrence, lost control of her car and went off the road near the River Road exit, Massachusetts State Police said.

Mark R. Ecker II, 23, who was traveling in the car was ejected when Ortiz' car rolled over in the crash. He was to taken Lawrence General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Ecker, of East Longmeadow, lost both his legs below the knee after an improvised explosive device went off as he led a patrol through the streets of Ramadi in February 2007. It was his second tour of Iraq, the Springfield Republican reported.

Ortiz suffered minor injuries in the crash.

In a separate incident, two people were injured in a two car crash on Aldrich Road in Wilmington early Saturday morning.

One of the cars flipped over in the crash. The injuries to one of the victims were serious, police said.
