A Canton woman was indicted Thursday in connection with a motor vehicle crash that claimed the life of a 4-year-old girl in Stoughton last month.

Patrick Morrissey
Ilse Horn, 88, was indicted for motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation and failure to yield in a crosswalk. Diya Patel was riding her scooter with her family on June 13, using a crosswalk to traverse Washington Street, when she was struck by a vehicle driven by Horn, according to police.

Last month, the Registry of Motor Vehicles also revoked her driver's license.

Horn's driving record shows that in March and July 2001, she was involved in crashes that were charged to her insurance. She also was cited for speeding in West Roxbury in 1995. From 1983 to 1993, she was involved in three crashes.

Diya was thrown about 50 feet. Her grandfather said there were no cars around when they started to cross. She was rushed to Tufts New England Medical Center in Boston but later died.
