A Brockton man faces charges Monday after a bomb squad busted his annual Fourth of July fireworks show.

Dozens of fireworks were ignited before the state police arrived Saturday night at Jeffrey Bumpus' show on the front lawn of his 50 Lynn Road home.

Bumpus had about $4,000 worth of fireworks and hundreds of neighbors showed up to see the show.

Firefighters said with so many homes in close proximity to where the fireworks were being set off and about 300 people there to see the display, it was a disaster waiting to happen.

But Bumpus and his neighbors said the city over-reacted. He said he had a hose at the ready in case anything caught fire.

Jeffrey Bumpus wasn't arrested but will face charges in an upcoming court date.
