BOSTON -- An elderly woman who was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries Sunday after her husband accidentally ran her over has died of her injuries, according to the Cape Cod Times.

Police said Muriel Weldon, 83, was hit at the Dennis Yacht Club about 8:15 p.m. when John Weldon, 92, of Reading, Mass., was backing out of a parking space and his vehicle accelerated quickly and hit his wife.

Muriel Weldon had been behind the car directing him, police said.

She was taken to Cape Cod Hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
