Eight people were killed overnight Saturday in separate car crashes on Massachusetts roadways, including a wreck in Walpole that police said was caused by a drunken driver. A 31-year-old Florida man will face motor vehicle homicide charges in the deaths of the three passengers, who were in their 20s.

A single-car wreck in Attleboro also killed three Plymouth men and injured a fourth, who was taken to a Rhode Island hospital for treatment. Police said none of the men was wearing a seat belt.

Police are also investigating a four-car collision in Quincy that killed a 19-year-old man and a crash in Sudbury that left the driver dead. Speed is believed to be a factor in the Sudbury crash.

Attleboro
Three young men were killed in a crash on Route 95 at about 2:30 a.m in Attleboro.

The men were riding north in a 2003 Mazda when the driver, Gleidson Pereira, 23, of Plymouth, lost control and spun off the right side of the road near Exit 3, police said. The vehicle rolled over and struck several tree stumps before coming to rest.

All four men were ejected from the car; none was wearing a seat belt, according to Massachusetts State Police. Pereira and two passengers, Ivanildo De Souza, 27, and Lavdeir De Silva, 29, also of Plymouth, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The fourth passenger, Samuel Torres-Mendes, 29, of Plymouth, was taken to Rhode Island Hospital by ambulance with serious injuries.

The northbound lanes were shut down for an hour overnight while police investigated the crash.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or anyone who has information about the incident is asked to contact the state police at 508-543-8550.

Walpole
A suspected drunken driver was the only person to survive after a single-car crash left three people dead in Walpole on Saturday, police said.

The driver, Jason Wayne Spurlin, 31, of Lakeworth, Fla., will face three counts of motor vehicle homicide in the deaths of the three passengers in the car.

Police said Spurlin was intoxicated and speeding when he failed to negotiate a turn near the corner of East and High streets at about 1:14 a.m. His 1998 Jeep Cherokee careened off the road and slammed into a tree.

Nick Kelly and Anna Dubois, both 20, of Walpole, and Amanda Murray, 23, of Medfield, were killed in the crash.

Murray’s mother told NewsCenter 5’s Cheryl Fiandaca that Murray and Spurlin, the driver, were dating. She said Murray gave birth to the couple’s first child five weeks ago.

The crash remains under investigation by Walpole police and state police detectives.

Quincy
Four cars collided on East Howard Street just after midnight, killing one person and injuring five others.

Michael Lally, 19, of Quincy, was killed in the crash, and another passenger in the car was taken to Boston Medical Center in serious condition. Two other passengers in the car and a third person in a separate vehicle were also injured in the crash.

One of the cars ended up on its roof in the middle of the street.

Sudbury
A driver also died in Sudbury when his vehicle crashed at 6:18 a.m. on Saturday. Sudbury police Sgt. John Harris said the man, who was not identified, was the only person injured in the single-car wreck on Boston Post Road.

Speed appeared to be a factor in the crash, Harris said, but he declined to comment on any other details of the investigation.
