BOSTON -- The brownouts at some Boston fire house continued on Thursday, as did the protests.NewsCenter 5's Rhondella Richardson reported that the union held a press conference in South Boston late Thursday afternoon to announce a unanimous no confidence vote in fire commissioner.Engine 2 in South Boston was browned out after the firefighters were called to man other fire houses.Engine 39 traveled nearly one mile from D street past the browned out K Street firehouse, where Engine 2 is out of service. With the Engine 2 closed and Engine 39 the closest operational unit gone, if f there's a need for water it's going to be a wait."The problem is if 39 goes you need apparatus from Dorchester and downtown. Southie is a peninsula, and if there's traffic they are going to have a tough to get over here,"In West Roxbury, firefighters are volunteering to staff the browned out Engine 55. Looking to the public for support, firefighters vowed to fight the next nearby fire even during the brownout.Union members called the situation the Menino Casino, and said Boston Mayor Tom Menino is playing roulette with people's lives."This is silly. It's all political theatre," Menino said.
