WASHINGTON -- It's summer. For most Americans, that means barbeque season.But here's something to think about next time you pick up propane for your gas grill: Those tanks don't carry what they used to.The large cylinders traditionally contained 17 pounds of propane. When the cost of fuel skyrocketed last year, FerrellGas, which produces the Blue Rhino brand, and AmeriGas began putting only 15 pounds in those tanks, and kept the price the same.The change has fueled lawsuits by consumers who believe they're being ripped off. In a class action complaint, the companies are accused of deceiving customers to save money.FerrellGas says consumers know what they're getting because the amount of propane is clearly marked on all Blue Rhino cylinders.AmeriGas has also changed its labeling.
