BOSTON -- Two bank robbery suspects arrested by Needham police Wednesday may be connected to the "U30 Bandit," who has hit several local banks, FBI officials said. The men were accused of robbing the Sovereign Bank at the intersection of Webster Street and Highland Avenue shortly after 1 p.m. on Wednesday. There have been no reports of any injuries.Dimitri Long, 32, of Norwood, was arrested as he left the bank, and Michael Cote, 44, of Dedham, was arrested in Newton after he fled the scene, according to FBI spokeswoman Gail Marcinkiewicz. The FBI said the robbers may be connected to the U30 Bandit, who police said has robbed several area banks. He's dubbed the U30 Bandit because police said is in and out of banks in 30 seconds.Agents said the U30 Bandit has robbed several banks in Wellesley, Needham, Newton, Dedham and Walpole, sometimes wearing outrageous disguises. In three of the incidents, he put what appears to be a bomb on the counter, though the devices he's left have been fake. Then, he sprints out with the money, apparently to a waiting car.NewsCenter 5 and TheBostonChannel.com will have more information when it becomes available.
