A 50-year-old man was charged Monday in connection with the rape and murder of woman whose body was found in a truck in a Dorchester parking lot earlier this year.

Fitzhugh Newton, who is currently incarcerated in the South Bay House of Corrections on unrelated charges, was charged for the 48-year-old victim's Feb. 26 rape and homicide.

Newton will be arraigned at a future scheduled date on charges of murder and two counts of aggravated rape in Dorchester District Court.

On Feb. 26, Boston police officers responded to a 911 call for a person discovered unresponsive in the back of a delivery truck in a parking lot near 390 Columbia Road. Upon arrival, officers found the unresponsive woman and pronounced her dead.
