An ex-convict was found guilty Monday of first-degree murder in the shooting death of a man in a Newton parking garage.

Scott Foxworth, 55, of Dracut, was hired by James Brescia to kill Edward Schiller, 39, of Sudbury in January 2009. At the time, Schiller was dating Brescia's estranged wife.

He was sentenced to life in prison without eligibility for parole.

"Scott Foxworth didn’t know Ed Schiller and showed a total disregard for the value of life, killing him for nothing other than money," District Attorney Gerry Leone said. "Foxworth laid in wait and then cowardly shot Ed Schiller, taking him away from the family and friends who loved him. We thank the jury for this just verdict."

Schiller's body was found in his car in a parking garage on Boylston Street near the insurance company where he worked.

Brescia was found guilty of conspiracy and first-degree murder by a Middlesex County Superior Court jury on June 24, 2008.
