HANOVER, Mass. -- As police carried bags of evidence away from her Hanover apartment, Holly Hersh cursed the man who police say kidnapped a 6-year-old girl and tried to rape her in Hersh’s home on Saturday.“It’s sick! It’s demented!” exclaimed Hersh. “That poor little girl has to suffer the rest of her life. My kids have to suffer the rest of their lives. I can’t go back and live here.”Hersh’s ex-boyfriend, Justin Shine, 26, was arrested on Saturday and accused of kidnapping a young girl as she rode her bike. Police said Shine attempted to rape the girl inside Hersh’s apartment, but the 6-year-old managed to escape. The girl was found outside the apartment complex wearing shackles around her feet. Police said she had blood stains on her arms and legs. Shine was arrested inside Hersh’s apartment after the girl indicated to police that it was the location of the attack.“It’s sad and it’s disgusting how someone could do that and take a child’s innocence,” said Hersh on Sunday. “He’s a loser; he’s a deadbeat. I hope he rots in hell.”Hersh, who has two children, told NewsCenter 5’s Lynn Jolicoeur that she kicked Shine out of her apartment two weeks ago because he was abusing drugs. She said that Shine did not have keys to the apartment and that he broke in on Saturday before the attack. The victim, who was treated at a hospital, was a friend of Hersh’s son. The girl had played in the apartment and met Shine before the incident, Hersh said.“I thank God that she got out before she really seriously got hurt,” said Hersh. “I thank God.”Hersh refused to discuss the evidence that was removed from her apartment following the alleged assault.Shine will be arraigned Monday in a Hingham court. He will face charges of kidnapping, attempted rape, assault and battery and resisting arrest.
