State and local police are searching the offices of Lawrence School Superintendent Wilfredo Laboy and the city's police chief said they are preparing to execute a search warrant to seize "computers and other materials."

Chief John Romero told the Eagle-Tribune that police were inside the superintendent's office Friday but would not say whether Laboy was the subject of any investigation.

The search comes after Lawrence School Committee member Sammy Reyes filed complaints with several state agencies asking them to probe ethics violations and other alleged misconduct involving Laboy and others.

Laboy has been on medical leave since checking into a hospital with work-related stress on May 14. He's expected to return to his job next week.
