Life has not been easy for Hunter, an orange cat found abandoned in a box on Huntington Avenue, but things may be looking up for the MSPCA-Angell Boston resident because Lama Gursam is coming to bless him Wednesday.

Hunter joins hundreds of homeless, sick or injured animals at MSPCA who will be blessed by Gursam Wednesday afternoon as part of the Tibetan Buddhist teacher’s annual U.S. tour.

The visit comes during the center’s busy adoption season because many animals are in need of new families.

Cats are especially needy this time of year, the association said. Coco was brought to MSPCA because the cat’s owner could no longer afford the pet. Cole and Lola were surrendered when their owner was deployed overseas.

Lama Gursam added the stop to his trip because a dog in India used to visit and listen as he preached meditation practices, renewing his connection with animals, he said.
