REVERE, Mass. -- Two hours away from Revere High School, sheriff's deputies snapped pictures that certainly won't make the yearbook.A Revere, Mass., parent and 41 high school students are facing charges after police in Acton, Maine, broke up an "after-prom" party after neighbors complained about the noise. Investigators said Michael Pitrone, 48, was charged with furnishing a place for minors to consume or possess liquor. The 41 others, 11 of whom were under 18, were charged with underage drinking. "His daughter invited three or four people up after the prom and 21 cars showed up," said Dawn Perna, Pitrone's sister. Perna said that Pitrone's daughter had not attended the prom.Students told NewsCenter 5's Sean Kelly that the students went to the Maine home so that they would not have to drive after drinking."There are decisions that young people make that can set their character apart. Obviously, they made a mistake and hopefully they will learn from it," said Dr. Paul Dakin, Revere school superintendent. The dozens of citations come less than a week after post-prom drinking had more serious consequences in Saugus, Mass. Prosecutors say senior Jonathan Caruso drank 10 beers after his prom and struck and killed Carole Marean, 67, and badly injured her daughter Charlotte. The York County Sheriff's Office said the Revere parent and students are to be arraigned in August in Springvale District Court.Officials at Revere High School are considering disciplinary action.
