Tyler Trahan, 22, was killed Thursday by a roadside bomb in Iraq, his father, Jean-Pierre Trahan, told the New Bedford Standard Times.

The Navy did not immediately release any additional details about the incident.

Trahan was an explosive ordinance disposal technician supporting a Navy SEAL team that had deployed to Iraq earlier this year, the paper reported.

Trahan graduated from Old Colony Regional Vocational-Technical High School in 2004. He enlisted in the Navy in 2006 after attending the Massachusetts Maritime Academy for one year.
