BOSTON -- The fiancee of a former Boston University medical student accused of killing a masseuse he contacted on Craigslist has visited him in a Boston jail and is standing by him, her lawyer said, but their summer wedding plans have been called off. "I believe the wedding planned for August is being dismantled," her attorney Robert Honecker told ABC's "Good Morning America" Thursday morning. "That wedding will not occur." Megan McAllister, accompanied by her mother and her lawyer, met with Philip Markoff for about 25 minutes on Wednesday. McAllister, who did not talk to the media, was not wearing her engagement ring. Honecker, said he was "not privy to the specific conversation between Megan and Philip," but he said the pair had "an emotional conversation.""She came away from the conversation a stronger person becasue she made that step," Honecker said, alluding to the fact that she had not seen Markoff since he was arrested and charged with murder."Obviously, she was emotional and she, from this day forward, is going to begin to put her life back in order," he said.Honecker said that McAllister still believes in Markoff's innocence but is ready to let the legal process play out now and wants to get on with her life."There are things she has to do and I think the process begins today," Honecker said.He said unless she is called back by the grand jury investigating the case, McAllister will not come back to Boston and will return to her parents' home in New Jersey. Markoff is charged with shooting Julissa Brisman of New York City on April 14 at the Boston Marriott Copley Place hotel. He is also charged in a robbery at a nearby hotel of another woman he met on Craigslist. He has pleaded not guilty.Law enforcement authorities have said they found a gun hidden under Markoff's bed that matches the one used to kill Brisman. They said they also found 16 pairs of women's underwear and as many as 60 pairs of plastic handcuffs.Markoff is said to be under 24-hour surveillance in the Boston city jail after two reported suicide attempts. ABC News reported that in one attempt Markoff allegedly tried to cut his wrist with a spoon he had sharpened.
