The Boston Police Department increased patrols in the North End Saturday and urged community members to be more vigilant due to recent reports of assaults on women.

Friday night around 9:30 p.m., a woman reported that she was assaulted by a man while walking in the area of Prince Street at the DiFalippo playground. The victim fought off her attacker and was able to escape with minor scrapes, police said.

The suspect is described as 5 foot 10 inches tall with an olive complexion wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, dark blue jeans, and sneakers. The man was reported to have spoken with an unknown accent.

On April 4, a woman was walking in the vicinity of the North Bennet Court when she was pushed by a man who apparently intended to assault her. The victim was able to fight off the suspect and escape without injury.

This suspect is described as a 30-year-old light-skinned Hispanic or Italian male about 5 foot 5 inches tall with an olive complexion with dark sideburns and large brown eyes.

The Boston Police Department Sexual Assault Unit is investigating the incidents to determine if they are connected.
