WESTON, Mass. -- Parents, students and administrators at a small school in Weston are reeling following the arrest of a school worker who is accused of installing a secret video camera in a girl’s bathroom. Homer Ray Rogers, 37, of Worcester, an information technology worker at the Cambridge School of Weston, was charged with secret video surveillance of partial nudity at Waltham District Court on Friday.Rogers, who turned himself in to police on Thursday night, has been employed at the school for seven years, according to Head of School Jane Moulding.NewsCenter 5’s Lynn Jolicoeur reported that administrators at the school first discovered the video camera after a custodian reported hearing a static hiss coming out of a supply closet. Inside, administrators found a small video monitoring device receiving a signal from a tiny camera hidden in the insulation surrounding a bathroom pipe.Police said that a recording on the device captured images of eight females, at least some of whom were students at the school, in various stages of nudity.A prosecutor told the courtroom Friday that administrators became suspicious of Rogers when he spotted the commotion at the supply closet and allegedly started behaving nervously.According to a police report, Rogers allegedly walked over to the administrators and said of the video equipment, “It must be mine,” before asking to see what it looked like. When he was questioned about the material on the equipment, Rogers told police that the device had been stolen from his car several weeks ago.Police searched the school following the discovery to ensure that no other devices had been hidden in the building. Investigators are now looking to determine whether any other files on the device contain images of girls at the school, or whether any material contained on the device was disseminated onto the Internet.Moulding said Friday that the entire school community was shocked by the discovery.“We never take any kind of advantage of our kids,” said Moulding. “We love our kids.”Moulding said that councilors were available at the school for parents and students – many of whom are wondering if they were captured on the alleged recording.Police and administrators said they will hold discussions with students to decide whether or not to try and identify the people who appear in the recording.Rogers, who appeared in court Friday with his wife by his side, was released on personal recognizance and ordered to stay away from the school and video equipment. He was also suspended from his job at the school.
