BOSTON -- Despite widespread layoffs and financial woes, Massachusetts job-seekers may find luck in a growing sector of the state’s economy this year.

Film IndustryNewsCenter 5’s Shiba Russell reported that about 600 people attended the Massachusetts Film Office’s first career fair, hoping to find work in one of the multi-million dollar film projects setting up camp across the state.New tax incentives coaxed moviemakers to bring 13 productions to Boston in 2008, and another eight to 12 are projected to be filmed in the state this year.Attendees at the fair swapped business cards with producers and industry representatives, who offered advice on how to land a job in front of, or behind, the camera.“We're scrambling to keep up with the demand, and one of the things that this conference hopes to achieve is to let people who are looking for work in the industry know how to get it,” said Nicholas Paleologos of the Massachusetts Film Office.The Office of Workforce Development will also host several seminars in March to help job seekers find positions at the two new studios in South Weymouth and Plymouth.
