Cell Phone Tower Collapses After Fire

No Injuries Reported In Wellesley Incident

A cell phone tower caught on fire and collapsed in Wellesley on Friday afternoon.

The tower off of Route 9 caught on fire shortly after 1 p.m. A spark from a welder's torch ignited a fire on the tower. The flames slowly weakened the structure, which eventually crashed to the ground.

There were no injuries, but the fire cut power to about 200 homes in the area.
