Authorities said Andrews Borovietz had gone to Tispaquin Pond to go skating on Saturday morning.

His wife called police just after 11 a.m. and said that Borovietz had been gone an hour, and she couldn't see him on the pond.

Firefighters rushed to the pond and pulled him out, but he died later at Tobey Hospital in Waltham.

Borovietz's stepson, 30-year-old Richard Lomba, told The Boston Globe that Borovietz loved life and his death was a terrible tragedy.
