Jonathan Ladd, 25, was charged with operating under the influence after the Brockton crash. It is Ladd's third operating under the influence charge. He is on probation for a previous offense, and there is a warrant out for Ladd's arrest in Florida for another drunken driving charge.

Police said the tow truck slammed into a man getting out of his SUV on Crescent Street on Thursday night. Witnesses said the truck did not stop after the collision.

"(Ladd) indicted to the officer that he had drank a six-pack at approximately 3 p.m. in a bar in Abington,"

The victim, identified as John Rosa, of Brockton, underwent surgery at South Shore Hospital. The extent of his injuries are not known.
