Police Officer's Cruiser Struck By Car

Minor Injuries Reported In Crash

A Fitchburg police officer was struck Thursday by a car that was involved in a police chase.

Fitchburg police were pursuing a bank robbery suspect, who was involved in a three-car crash on Pearl and Myrtle streets. One of the cars struck a fire hydrant, and another car struck the officer's cruiser. A woman who was driving one of the cars was arrested at the scene. Her name has not been released.

Police arrested her passenger, James Thayer, 26, of Templeton, in connection with an armed robbery warrant.

Six people, including the police officer, were taken to hospitals with minor injuries.
