A 16-year-old Worcester mother faces charges in the death of her 1-year-old son, NewsCenter 5 has learned.

Paramedics responded to a 911 call received shortly after 11 a.m. Sunday of an infant apparent in respiratory and cardiac arrest. Police officers and firefighters tried to resuscitate the child and took him to St. Vincent Hospital, where the boy was pronounced dead about an hour later.

Investigators interviewed the boy's mother and relatives and later arrested the mother, whose identity authorities did not immediately release because of her age. The Worcester District Attorney's Office told NewsCenter 5 that the teen is set to face a judge Tuesday.

Authorities performed an autopsy Monday, but results remained pending.
