Police said Apponequet Regional High School in Lakeville was placed under lockdown on Tuesday after bullets were found in the building.

NewsCenter 5's Jack Harper reported that the building at 100 Howland Road was secured while a search was conducted and students were kept inside the buildings. Six bullets were found in a hallway in the back of the building, school officials said.

"We have no determination, at this time, as to origin. We had hoped to develop some information on that by now, but so far we have come up empty," Superintendent Stephen Furtado said.

Police used dogs to help search lockers and rooms as students were held in their rooms.

"They didn't let us know anything. They could have sent e-mails. Kids were scared. It was horrible," student Liana Arruda said.

"For the most part, I felt safe because the teachers kept letting us know what was going on," student Chelsea Duquette said.

"When I made my first call to parents, I told them there were six bullets found. That's about all we knew. Students were finding out from text messages from their families," Furtado said.

"I got the call and I got worried and said, 'Well, I'm coming down. I need to know what's going on.' You never know what's going to happen," parent Chelsea Whritenower said.

By noon, students were given the option to either go home with their parents or finish the day. Most finished the day.
