A 13-year-old boy was in his front yard about 10:35 a.m. when a man grabbed him, police said.

"He was in his own yard, a male suspect walked up to him, grabbed him and dragged him into the woods," Attleboro police Capt. David Proia said.

The boy was able to escape with just a few scratches, police said.

"He was able to get away, run out of the woods, run to the house and alerted his father who called the police," Proia said.

Police and a helicopter from the Massachusetts State Police conducted a search of the wooded area next to the victim’s house.

Mark J. Rantanen, 46, was questioned by police after the incident and later charged with kidnapping and assault and battery. Rantanen was scheduled to be arraigned in Attleboro District Court Friday.
