State's Most Wanted Sex Offenders Sought

BOSTON -- A new list of the state's most wanted sex offenders was released Thursday by the Massachusetts State Police and the Sex Offender Registry Board.It includes 10 Level 3 sex offenders –- those deemed to be at the highest risk of committing another sex crime and a danger to the community. The offenders have also failed to register with the board as required by law.The release of the new list follows a three-month operation to locate unregistered sex offenders. Through this effort, the most serious offenders located were arrested, while lower-risk offenders were immediately registered.Nearly 750 offenders were arrested, registered or otherwise determined to be deceased, incarcerated or no longer living in Massachusetts. The total number of unregistered sex offenders arrested, registered or located this year through the start of September now stands at 956."This is an important joint initiative coordinated by two key public safety agencies that makes our cities, towns, neighborhoods and streets safer places for all of the commonwealth’s citizens," said Public Safety and Security Secretary Kevin M. Burke.The Most Wanted Sex Offenders List includes:Ryan Lovell, 24, previously convicted for assault and battery on a child and currently wanted for failure to register as a sex offender;William E. Harvey III, 43, previously convicted for rape of a child and currently wanted for failure to register as a sex offender and violating the Abuse Prevention Act;Eric J. Conalty, 38, previously convicted of indecent assault on battery on a child and currently wanted for failure to register as a sex offender and committing unnatural acts with a child;Steven M. Cooper, 41, previously convicted of rape and currently wanted for failure to register as a sex offender and rape;Jelani K. Baker, 28, previously convicted of indecent assault and battery on a child and lewd and lascivious conduct and currently wanted for failure to register as a sex offender, lewd and lascivious conduct; carrying a dangerous weapon; and drug offenses;Jose A. Davila, 38, previously convicted of statutory rape and indecent assault and battery on a child and currently wanted for failure to register as a sex offender and trespassing;Angel Martinez, 42, previously convicted of rape of a child, indecent assault and battery, and posing a child in the nude; and currently wanted for failure to register as a sex offender, statutory rape of a child, and posing a child in the nude;Anthony D. Simmons, 38, previously convicted of indecent assault and battery on a child and currently wanted for failure to register as a sex offender and violating his probation from his previous conviction.Shayne M. Sampson, 48, previously convicted of indecent assault and battery on a child, disseminating obscene material to a minor, and open and gross lewdness and currently wanted for failure to register as a sex offender, violating his probation from his previous conviction, and violating the Abuse Prevention Act.The 10th Level 3 offender was recently captured in Virginia after his inclusion on the list.Edward Bueno, wanted for fleeing the state after his conviction for statutory rape and indecent assault and battery on a child and for failure to register as a sex offender, was arrested after an investigation by the State Police VFAS, US Marshals and authorities in Virginia and Florida.A wanted poster with photos of suspects on the new list can be viewed by clicking here.Anyone with information about the location of the Most Wanted Sex Offenders is asked to call Massachusetts State Police at 508-820-2121 or 800-KAPTURE (800-527-8873).
