A sixth-grade girl was injured Monday when she was hit by a car while walking to her bus stop in Danvers.

Police said the girl was hit about 7:10 a.m. at Prince and Centre streets.

The driver was cited for failure to stop for a pedestrian in a crosswalk and failure to use care in slowing and stopping for a pedestrian, which is a town bylaw violation. The driver's name has not been released.

The girl was walking in a crosswalk when she was hit and dragged about 30 feet. Danvers does not have crossing guards at bus stops.

The girl was taken to a hospital with a leg injury and a laceration to her head. Her identity was not immediately released.
