BOSTON -- A 66-year-old man was arrested and charged with murder after police said he fatally stabbed a woman in a Roxbury apartment Friday.

Charles Cherry, 66, is accused of attacking the unidentified woman, in her 50s, at an apartment at 127 Amory Street.

Police said they found the woman suffering from apparent stab wounds at around 11:15 p.m. after receiving an emergency telephone call.

She was transported to Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
