'Super Mom' Deals With Back-To-School Stress
NewsCenter 5's Bianca de la Garza explains, one mom wrote the book on staying sane in September. With one the school bus, and two to go, Cindy Swartwood is showing no signs of slowing down. The Cohasset, Mass., mom swears she is not super mom but admits that trying to do it all sometimes makes her question whether she's doing enough." Author Jen Singer said between super mom and slacker mom is the perfect balance. She says back-to-school is the time when many a mother gets sucked back in, pressured to sign children up for too many activities, such as soccer or piano. Her advice: One sport per child per season and every woman should realize super mom does not exist. They should also remember that their own mothers raised them and everyone turned out fine.In fact, a University of Maryland study showed that mothers spent less time with their kids in 1965 at 10.6 hours a day, than most do now, at 12.9 hours.
