BOSTON -- The family and friends of a Jamaican immigrant living in Brockton have identified him as the man killed in a seaport parking lot following a late-night cruise.NewsCenter 5’s Lynn Joliceour reported that those who knew Courtney Wilson can’t imagine why he was gunned down after disembarking from the Provincetown II Friday morning shortly after midnight.“We all came here for a better life,” said Hoip Swaby, Wilson’s cousin.
Wilson, 41, moved to the United States and worked in construction and used-car sales to support his family and parents in Jamaica, Swaby said.Police believe hundreds of people were nearby the contemporary art museum and the World Trade Center cruise pier when the shooting occurred. However, officials have been frustrated by a lack of new information about the incident.Swaby said that he empathizes with the fear witnesses may have about coming forward with information about the murder.“If you’re standing beside him and he gets killed, why do you think you won’t be next?” Swaby said.More than 800 people attended the "Outrageous in Red" party cruise before the shooting occurred. Police said that they are seeking information as to whether or not there was an altercation aboard the vessel.Investigators are also interested in any information related to any potential altercation that may have occurred in or around the Anthony's Pier 4 parking lot. It's not clear whether the victim or shooters were connected to the cruise in any way. No arrests have been made.
