Hit- And- Run Accident Injures Man, Kills Dog

Man Was Walking Dog On Milton Road In Rochester

Emergency crews were called to Milton Road shortly before 7 a.m. Saturday on reports of a hit-and -run accident involving a pedestrian and a dog.

Police said, Raymond Poirier, 71, was walking his dog on the southbound shoulder of the road. They were struck by a southbound vehicle that when off the shoulder. After striking Poirier and his dog the driver left the scene, said investigators.

The vehicle is described as blue, possibly a Chevy Lumina. A partial New Hampshire plate of 259 was recalled by witnesses, said police. The vehicle would have front passenger side damage and hood damage. The driver is described as a short female, said police.

Poirier is expected to recover from his injuries but his dog died at the scene.

Anyone with information about this accident is asked to call Rochester police at 330-7128.
