The 4-year-old daughter of a Cape Cod firefighter suffered first- and second-degree burns to her feet when she stepped on a hot campfire at a private beach, the Cape Cod Times reported.

The incident happened at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday at a beach along Barnstable Harbor.

The girl's father put her feet in the ocean water and a cold tub before she was flown to Shriners Burn Institute at Massachusetts General Hospital.

The girl's condition was not immediately known.
