Injured Snake May Have Been Struck By Car

While drivers should always watch the road for small pets and other animals that might cross their path, rarely will they find this.

An injured 6-foot python was rescued from the side of a rural road Sunday night in Concord.

Police went to Long Pond Road after the python was spotted in the area. The snake appeared to be injured, and may have been run over by a passing motorist, police said.

Police determined the snake was not native to the area, which is bordered by swamps and bodies of water. Officers said it could be an escaped or abandoned pet, police said.

After being rescued, the snake was brought to a veterinary clinic for treatment.
