BOSTON -- A man was beaten to death in broad daylight near Faneuil Hall Friday morning, with what witnesses described as a towel or a bag with something heavy inside, police said.The Boston Globe reported that police were called to the intersection of North and Union streets on a report that a drunken man was lying on the ground bleeding."His friend said he'd been assaulted," Boston police spokesman Eddy Chrispin told the Globe.
The 40-year-old man was pronounced dead at Massachusetts General Hospital.Police are looking for a black man, 6 feet 2 inches tall, wearing a red shirt.The slaying was the city’s 31st of the year. A shooting in Boston’s Hyde Park neighborhood Friday evening was the 32nd, matching last year’s number at this time.
