UPDATED: 5:40 pm EDT July 4, 2008

Three people were sent to the hospital after they said a man popped out of the sunroof of another car on Route 24 and shot eight rounds at them, police said.

The Patriot Ledger of Quincy reported that one man and two women, in their late teens or early 20s, had non life-threatening injuries.

The shooting happened just after midnight as the victims left the Brockton Fair in a white Toyota Camry with two other passengers, police told the Ledger.

The car with the shooter sped away.
