BOSTON -- The city of Boston celebrated the Fourth of July Friday with the traditional Boston Pops concert and fireworks display on the banks of the Charles River.Scorsese, Celebs At Boston's FourthMost of the region saw rain showers throughout the morning, soaking some attending morning parades, but the rain held off for the evening festivitiesHundreds waited in order to get prime seating for the performances, and an estimated 50,000 people were already lined up along the Esplanade hours before the show was set to begin.

"Old Ironsides" served as a backdrop when 26 Massachusetts residents were sworn-in as U.S. citizens Friday morning.

It was the 35th year the orchestra has played a free July Fourth concert, a tradition started by the legendary conductor Arthur Fiedler.
