The general manager of WHDH-TV admitted to disorderly conduct and resisting arrest in a Boston courtroom Friday morning and then resigned her position as head of the local NBC affiliate.

Randi Goldklank, 40, admitted to facts sufficient for a finding of guilty on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest after she was picked up at Logan International Airport in April following a disturbance on an inbound Delta flight from Philadelphia, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney's office.

An additional charge of assault and battery on a police officer was dismissed in the East Boston District courtroom.

Her attorney read a statement on her behalf following the court hearing.

"I've decided to resign my position at WHDH and WLVI to continue focusing on getting healthy," David Eisenstadt said. "I appreciate the support I have received from [Channel 7 owner] Ed Ansin and my friends and colleagues at WHDH and WLVI. I look forward to returning to work in the broadcasting industry in the near future."

Goldklank had been placed on paid administrative leave since the April 20 incident.

"This has been an unfortunate circumstance. Randi Goldklank is a talented executive. We wish her great success," said Goldklank's boss, Edmund Ansin, president of Sunbeam Television Corporation.

The case was continued for a period of one year, during which Goldklank must abstain from alcohol and any drugs not prescribed to her by a doctor, continue with her ongoing treatment and counseling, allow the Department of Probation access to any relevant medical records, and pay restitution to the state trooper whose glasses she broke during her arrest.

According to the police report from the incident, troopers were called to the airport on a report of a rowdy passenger and said they smelled a "very strong odor of an alcoholic beverage from (Goldklank's) breath" when they arrived at the gate to meet the flight.

Goldklank was reported to have told an EMT she had consumed "about three dozen drinks."

Goldklank had to be held "upright" by the flight crew and "was staggering and attempted to break free from those who were assisting her to the bottom of the aircraft stairway," the report said.

She allegedly struck a trooper in the chest and said, "I'm a big shot in Boston and I'll have your (expletive) jobs. ...you just watch and see what (expletive) happens when I get out of here," according to the police report.

"I'll have a news crew down here in minutes, and you will lose your (expletive) jobs you (expletives)," the report said.

Goldklank said that she was inappropriately touched by a male passenger seated beside her on a flight from Philadelphia to Boston.

She said that she did nothing wrong and that she defended herself when a man sitting next to her put his hands in an "inappropriate area." She said that when she asked the man what he was doing, he responded, "Doesn't that feel good?"

After she was booked and advised of her rights by police, the report said she told a police sergeant, "You think I'm cute, and I think you're cute. Just drive me home."

Goldklank has apologized in person to the troopers involved, and follow-up letters of apology to them and Delta Airlines personnel have been delivered, the Suffolk County district attorney's office said.

If she abides by the probationary terms, the case will be dismissed in June 2009; if not, it could be put back on track for trial.
