Pair Charged With Assaulting Pregnant Woman

Police: Victim Kicked In Stomach Three Times

A homeless couple from Lowell was held on bail Tuesday after they were accused of assaulting a pregnant woman and kicking her in the stomach, according to the Lowell Sun.

The victim, a 28-year-old woman, had given the couple Morgan Cleary, 24, and Tom Cleary, 54, a place to stay, but kicked them out of her home on Saturday. The victim, who is seven months pregnant, was fearful that the couple was storing drugs in her home.

Police said that one person held the victim's arms while the other kicked her three times in the stomach, the newspaper reported.

Morgan Cleary was charged with assault and battery on a pregnant person, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and domestic assault and battery and held on $1,000 bail.

Tom Cleary was charged with him assault and battery on a pregnant person, domestic assault and battery and intimidation of a witness and held on $5,000 cash bail.

The victim, whose name was not released spent one night in a local hospital before doctors determined that the baby was not injured.
