When a Hudson, N.H. school custodian arrived at school early Monday morning amid blaring alarms, he was expecting to find a broken window, maybe from a thrown rock. What he wasn’t expecting was a large, feathered Thanksgiving dinner.

Doug Golden, 42, entered a Library Street School classroom at 6 a.m. to find a smashed window, a room in disarray and a wildly flapping turkey, the Lowell Sun reported.

Golden believed the bird broke through a classroom window the day before and was unable to escape.

The custodian called the police, and a Hudson patrolman managed to free the bird from a computer cable in which it had become tangled. With help from Golden and others, he was able to capture the turkey and stuff it into a large box.

The bird was freed in a wooded area near police headquarters.
