3D ‘Sketch’ Of Assault Suspect Triggers Tips

Rendering Made From 2 Previous Sketches

A digital three-dimensional police sketch of a suspected sexual predator has triggered more than a dozen leads, police said.

The Boston Herald reported the rendering could help crack the case, according to police.

“It’s something we’re very pleased with,” Sgt. Brian L. Howe told the Herald. “We’re doing background checks on at least a dozen people.”

Police said the suspect is responsible for three attacks on the Charles River Esplanade and another at the Joseph Moakley Park in South Boston since June 2006. Forensic evidence has linked the same person to three of those attacks.

Boston University’s Center for Digital Imaging Arts, in Waltham, made the rendering in about two weeks, by combining two previous sketches of the suspect.

The suspect is a black male in his mid-20s to mid-30s, and about 5-feet-8-inches to 5-feet-10-inches.

Anyone with tips should call the Massachusetts State Police in Boston at 617-727-6780 or call the Boston Police CrimeStoppers tip line at 800-494-TIPS.
