A tow truck operator was securing a car to his truck when he was hit by a drunken driver Friday night, police said.

The Taunton Daily Gazette reported Charles Solimine, 30, of Taunton, was taken by MedFlight to the hospital.

Antonio Resendes, 59, of Taunton, was arrested and charged with drunken driving and reckless driving.

A friend of Solimine told the Daily Gazette that Solimine suffered multiple injuries when he was crushed between the car he was securing and Resendes’s Toyota.

Police said Resendes registered a .20 percent blood-alcohol content on his breath test. The legal limit is .08.
